Who is Shen Shiwei?

SHEN Shiwei (沈诗伟), founder of the China Briefing newsletter. Shen is also a reporter, a columnist. Shen is also a research fellow at several Chinese universities, think tanks and associations including the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University, one of China's leading institutes in the field, Huaqiao University and etc.

As a prominent voice on social media for matters pertaining to China’s political, economic and foreign relations, international affairs, the BRI project’s development and regional trading blocs such as the RCEP. Shen was often interviewed by leading media including the Newsweek (U.S.), CNN, the Wall Street Journal, Asharq News, France 24, KBS and Russia Today, his opinions, comments and articles are often highlighted and published by mainstream media outlets, including the Newsweek (U.S.), Bloomberg, BBC, CNN, Russia Today, South China Morning Post (SCMP) and many others throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Shen is a graduate of the Department of Diplomacy at China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), which is affiliated with Chinese Foreign Ministry. Shen is also a scholarship graduate of the National Development School of Peking University and a scholarship graduate of the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University. He had worked for several years as a government relations and business consultant for Chinese multinationals operating in Africa and the Middle East before joining. His expertise lies in the political and economic polices analysis, projects and international cooperation tied to the Belt and Road Initiative. Shen was invited to attend the Saudi Media Forum multiple times for his contribution in media and research field.
